The coat of the American Bully is short, close, rigid to the touch, and shiny. Colors and designs of any kind are welcome. The American Bully has a medium-sized head with a deep, broad skull, prominent cheek muscles, a noticeable stop, and high-set ears. Cropped or uncropped ears are available. All colours except albinism; round to oval, low in the head, and spaced far apart. Muzzle: medium length, rounded on top and somewhat squared below eyes, falling away suddenly. Jaws are well delineated. It is necessary for the under jaw to be robust and capable of biting. Lips should be tight and even, with slight slack acceptable but not desirable. In front, upper teeth must touch securely outside lower teeth, otherwise a scissor bite is acceptable. All colours are suitable for the nose.

The neck is thick, somewhat arched, and tapered from the shoulders to the back of the head. There is no sagging of the skin. The length is medium. Shoulder blades are broad and sloping, and shoulders are powerful and muscular. The rear isn't as long as the front. Slight sloping from the withers to the rump is acceptable, as is a straight line with a modest short slope from the rump to the base of the tail. Rears that are somewhat higher are OK, but not preferred. The back of the body features well-sprung ribs. All of the ribs are close together. To allow for chest growth, the forelegs are situated far apart. The chest is large and deep. The tail is small for its size, low set, and tapered to a fine tip; it is not curled. There are no docked points. Straighten your front legs. Large or spherical bones are OK but not desirable, as is a slight curving outwards of the foot.There is no similarity to a curve in the front. Well-muscled hindquarters that are let down at the hocks and do not turn in or out. Moderately sized, well-arched, and compact feet. With drive off the back, the gait should be lively.

The creation of the American Bully, as it is now called, began in the 1980s, and the bulk of the final behavioural and visual product was finalised in the 1990s. The American Bully Kennel Club (ABKC) was the first to recognise the breed in 2004.The American Bully is a relatively recent breed that arose in the United States between 1980 and 1990. They are a cross between an American Staffordshire Terrier and an American Pitbull Terrier, as well as other Pitbulls.

Years of careful breeding resulted in the creation of the American Bully, which combines the desirable characteristics of the UKC American Pit Bull Terrier and the AKC American Staffordshire Terrier. Other bully breeds, as well as non-bully breeds, have been incorporated into certain lineages.
