Akbash Dog is resident of Turkey. ( Akbas :- Turkish word meaning white head). Primarily used as guardian dog or sheperd dog. They have smooth medium-full white double coat. They have strong and flexible bodies. They are intelligent and large breed. This breed is not recognized by AKC ( American Kennel Club ) but recognised by UKC ( United Kennel Club ). Only white color of this breed is available. They are National Dog of Turkey.This breed makes bomding very closely with their owners and other animals. This breed is included in working breed. They can be trusted watchdog.

History
We know very little about the Akbash Breed. This breed is originated about 3000 years ago. They help to protect flocks from predators.In the 1970s U. S. Judith and David Nelson researching white coloured breed in western turkey so they introduced Akbash in North America at same time.
Health and Care
Akbash have excellent sight and hearing ability.Most of the breeds is healthy but Some of the more common health problems in the Akbash include:
- hip dysplasia
- hypothyroidism
- dilated cardiomyopathy
- gastric torsion (bloat)
- They can display range of sensitivity unlike many other breeds.
- Regular Vetrinary Checkup are important.
Feeding
Akbash is large breed so it requires high fibres and protien rich food. It requires high quality dry dog food 2 times a day for balanced nutrition.
